EDUCATION

This page is primarily to help anyone looking at moving into the area to learn a bit about schooling.

There is a 'website health-warning' on this page. I have asked Steyning to check my details but so far no response, so if anyone sees mistakes please let me know.

Pre-School

The village is fortunate to have two pre-school opportunities in the village and more nearby.

Primary School

West Chiltington First School is in East Street and has its own page here and takes children to year 5.

Secondary Schools

Rydon Community College in Storrington takes pupils from years 6 to 8

The village is served primarily by the Steyning school which is the only State school in the area with boarding facilities and takes pupils from year 9 onwards.

There is an option for pupils to attend the Weald School in Billingshurst in some circumstances.

Higher Education

Colleges in Horsham, Worthing and Chichester plus a university in Chichester. There is an agricultural college at Brinsbury, south of Billingshurst.

Adult Education

Plenty of opportunities, the nearest being Rydon College in Storrington and the Weald in Billingshurst. We have tutors in the village who can also assist adults if required.

Special Educational Needs

It is difficult to list all the options, but for Council Maintained Units look at the WSCC search page where you need to enter 'Filter by type' and then select the appropriate item. This will list all options in the County. If you have difficulties there, the number to ring is 08450751005 open from 0800 to 1800

I cannot produce a list of privately funded/run facilities, but if an internet search for a specific facility does not work, you might try Net Mums -while they do not appear to list schools etc they do have limks to organisations who will no doubt help.
