TRANSPORT INFORMATION

NOTE: Timetables for the train and the Midhurst/Worthing bus service are 'PDF' files and require 'Adobe Reader/Acrobat' to be installed on your computer.

If you need to download this (free 'plug-in') for your machine please click here - note this link is for Windows, but all machines are supported. It is a big file, and there is a smaller (also free) reader available at CNET

Trains

The village is served by two railway stations on the Southern network. The nearest is Pulborough (3 miles) and the next closest is Billingshurst (4 miles). Trains on this line run between Southampton and Portsmouth and London Victoria, serving Gatwick Airport on the way. You can download a timetable from Southern's website here. Basically trains run more-or-less every half-hour to London Mondays to Fridays with an hourly frequency on Sundays: Billingshurst station is around 7 minutes 'nearer' to London on those times. The line to Brighton can be accessed at Three Bridges and trains to London Bridge can be boarded there also. Journey time to London is around 1:15 to 1:20. Fares etc can be found at Southern's website along with special on-line deals - tickets once booked can easily be retrieved at the station ticket machine using your credit/debit card and booking reference.

Do be aware that the train service is poor here and that you cannot reliably 'do' an evening show in London and return by train unless you travel from Horsham. The last train going south of Horsham is 2232 out of Victoria

Buses

3 bus services run through the village. The timetable for the Route 1 can be downloaded here. The service is hourly during the day M-Sat with a reduced service on Sundays operating only between Pulborough station and Worthing.

*** You can check on the running of the service on this page ***. Enter the Route number (1?) and select the direction for live times. There is also a mobile app.

The Horsham service (74) runs roughly every 2 hours from Storrington, Monday - Saturday but less frequently through the village, and Tuesday and Friday services run between Pulborough Railway station and Tesco Stores and Storrington (72). On Wednesdays the Chichester service (71) runs once that day through the village.

There is also an hourly service from Puborough Station to Horsham via Billingshurst, Service Number 100

Storrington Area Minibus

The Community Minibus Association (West Sussex)

The Community Minibus Association (West Sussex) has been a registered charity (no. 275787) for over 35 years and is formed into six divisions. The Storrington Division, like all divisions, is run entirely by volunteers and provides a door-to-door regular service for local shopping, visits to towns and supermarkets, social outings and supporting community activities for the residents of Storrington, Sullington, Nutbourne, West Chiltington, Cootham and Thakeham who are unable to use public transport.

We have regular shopping trips to Storrington (Shopping Precinct car park), Pulborough (Tesco and Sainsbury's), Worthing (Morrison's, Worthing Town Centre, or once-a-month to Asda), Holmbush, and Shoreham (M&S; Tesco and Next). Additional locations may be added according to popular demand. We also have trips to the weekly Storrington Monday Club and monthly Pop-In Lunch; Lunch Club visits to suitable venues in the area on some Wednesdays; during summer months the "Special" trips go to the seaside, countryside and places of popular interest. We can also arrange special one-off trips for local Associated Groups. Our service is restricted to specific destinations and drop-off points.

If you live in the Storrington area and would like to become a member please contact Sylvia Hyams on 01903 745878 and she will "sign you up". The current annual membership fee is 5 and you will be given a leaflet listing all trips (current charges 1 to 4 for shopping trips) and telephone numbers to call. Any member can telephone the booking office any weekday between 10 am and 12 noon on our free number (0 3000 309 390).

The Community Minibus Association primarily provides and operates transport facilities, but its services also reflect a very real commitment to enhancing members' lives in other ways. As well as being able to shop, the trips provide a regular opportunity to maintain personal contact with friends and relations in the local community. The Wednesday Specials provide the means to get out of the house for a while to see the countryside and to converse with old friends and to make new ones.

We are always in need of drivers, escorts and booking office staff. If you would like to join us please call the Divisional Organizer - Jim James on 01903 745902.
