West Chiltington.com - Hotels and Pubs

In the village of West Chiltington there is one hotel and there are three pubs, so as a village we are well served. Within easy reach are many more places which offer a wide-ranging variety of food and drink.

The Elephant & Castle - West Chiltington

Originally built in the 14th century for the church warden (it is situated in Church Street, to the rear of the parish church) the Elephant and Castle is now a Hall & Woodhouse pub serving excellent real ales, fine wines and homemade food.

The Five Bells - West Chiltington

Situated in Smock Alley, this attractive local pub is famed for its choice of ales and excellent food.

The existing Five Bells pub was built in 1935 on the site a former pub, also called the Five Bells, although the latter was on what is now the car park.

The Queens Head - West Chiltington

The Roundabout Hotel - West Chiltington

Named after the local area, and nowhere near a roundabout, the hotel is set in the heart of the West Sussex countryside, but only eight miles north of Worthing, 18 miles to Brighton and 12 miles south of Horsham.

The White Horse - Marehill Pulborough

Situated on the A283 on the eastern edge of Pulborough Village and the western edge of West Chiltington, the White Horse Inn is your friendly local with everything you need. Set in beautiful countryside with views across the South Downs it has the atmosphere for all occasions.

The Countryman Inn - Shipley

The Countryman is set in open countryside close to the small village of Shipley, surrounded by 3,500 acres of farmland owned by the Knepp Castle Estate. The area is in the process of being turned back into a more natural state, with the introduction of fallow deer, free roaming Tamworth pigs, Exmoor ponies and longhorn cattle. Many wild birds have also been encouraged to return to the area, as the new growth of wild grasses and plant life provide a welcoming habitat. You can even do a bit of bird spotting from the inn's garden in fine weather.
