Licensing Policy
The Sale or Supply of alcohol in West Chiltington Village Hall must have the written approval of the Members Committee - Apply through Booking Secretary. Hirers must comply with the 2003 Licensing Act.
Penalties for a breach of the Licensing Act 2003 are severe and can include imprisonment and/or fines of up to £10,000. They are designed to promote The Prevention of Crime and Disorder; Public Safety; The Prevention of Public Nuisance and The Protection of Children.
All Hirers must undertake all of the following:-
- Alcohol will not be sold or supplied to anyone under the age of 18.
- Alcohol will not be sold or supplied to any person for the consumption of another under the age of 18.
- The only exception is that a child of 16 or 17 may consume beer, cider or wine with a meal provided it is bought for them by a person of a least 18 who supervises their consumption of it at the meal.
- Alcohol will not be consumed outside the premises. (i.e. Alcohol may not be taken outside in order that it may be drunk whilst smoking.)
- Alcohol will not be sold or supplied to any person who is or appears to be drunk.
- A full tariff will be on show which details the price of any drink.
- Drinks should only be served until 22.30 but no later than 23.00.
- The following have rights to enter the premises and close the bar:-
- Members Committee of West Chiltington Village Hall.
- Police.
- Trading Standards Officers.
- Environmental Health Officers.
- Fire Service, building control and council licensing officers.
- Customs and Excise Officers.
