West Chiltington Cavaliers Take The LeadThe Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme A trained dog is a happy dog.
This national scheme for all dogs (pedigree and crossbreed) and their owners is designed to train dogs and their handlers how to become 'Good Citizens'. There is no age limit on either the dog or owner. West Chiltington Cavaliers is principally for Cavalier King Charles Spaniels and their owners. They believe it is important for Cavaliers to be able to meet socially with other breeds and other breeds with them.. Hence some years ago special mixed breed training was set up to achieve this objective. The scheme aims to make the owner fully aware of their dog owning responsibilities and the need to own a socially acceptable dog. The GCDS is the largest National Dog Training Programme in the UK with over 52,000 dogs and their owners already having achieved the Bronze Award. Training - Spring 2008Our SPRING training sessions commence on THURSDAY 14th FEBRUARY and will be held in the West Chiltington CHURCH HALL. Classes are for ALL Breeds. Training with kind, motivational, fun methods. CLASS 1 (7.15pm) - For puppies under 12 months of age. Introducing basic training skills, socialisation, care and management, responsibilities of dog ownership. Working towards the Kennel Club Puppy Foundation Assessment CLASS 2 (8.30pm)Beginners Part 2 - For dogs of any age.Suitable for those progressing from Puppy Foundation Assessment course and beginners Part 1 Autumn course. Reinforcing and developing basic skills and awareness of general care, management and responsibilities of dog ownership. Working towards our Club Certificates Levels 1 and 2 progressing towards the Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme Bronze Award in April. The Dates February 14th, 21st, 28th. March 13th, 20th, 27th. April 3rd, 10th, 11th.
